City Near Me ("we") runs citynearme.com. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain terms.
City guide searches: when you request a guide, the city name you enter is sent to our AI provider to generate the guide text, and to Wikimedia Commons to look up a photo. We don't attach your identity to that request beyond your IP address, which we use briefly for abuse/rate-limit prevention and don't otherwise store or analyze.
Payments: if you pay the $5 for an extended guide, Stripe processes the payment — we never see or store your card details. We receive your email address and the fact that you paid, so we can send you the extended guide.
Newsletter: if you sign up for email tips, we store your email address and use double opt-in confirmation. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, any time.
Support emails: if you email us, we keep that correspondence to respond and to improve the service.
Aggregate page views: we count how many times pages are viewed, in aggregate, to understand what's popular. This isn't tied to individual visitors and we don't use cookies or third-party analytics/ad trackers.
Stripe (payments), Postmark (email delivery), OpenRouter (AI text generation), and Wikimedia Commons (public photo lookups — no personal data is sent to Wikimedia). We don't sell data, and we don't share it with anyone else.
Order and subscriber records are kept to operate the service. Email us and we'll delete your data on request, except where we need to keep payment records for legal/accounting reasons.
This service isn't directed at children and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
